STYLISH AND SOPHISTICATED LBX SET FOR AUSTRALIAN INTRODUCTION

The all-new Lexus LBX will make its Australian debut as one of the showcase vehicles at the 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup in November, with Lexus confirming the chic, compact, urban SUV will go on sale in Australia in the first half of next year.

The LBX's appearance during Melbourne Cup week will resonate with the contingent of youthful and fashionable racegoers amongst the huge crowds once again expected to pour into Flemington Racecourse.

Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Pappas said sponsorship of the Lexus Melbourne Cup enabled the luxury brand to present its latest and most stylish vehicles to a key target market.

"The Lexus Melbourne Cup showcases all that is stylish, sophisticated and refined, which also speaks to our range of Lexus vehicles," Mr Pappas said.

"The LBX, in particular, shows that luxury is not defined by vehicle size. It looks, feels and drives like a Lexus should.

"It introduces levels of sophistication and refined quality rarely seen in a car this size, but nevertheless expected by premium buyers.

"LBX will appeal to youthful customers with an active urban lifestyle wanting luxury integrated into their everyday driving experience, whatever that may be on any given day."

The newcomer is immediately identifiable as a Lexus with the latest interpretation of the trademark Lexus spindle body, designers drawing inspiration from the resolute and sleek front of the Lexus LS-F concept from 2003.

Emphasis is given to creating a lightweight body that is highly rigid and with a low centre of gravity to enhance the Lexus Driving Signature of faithful and confidence-inspiring dynamics in a car that offers a unique driving experience.

The LBX is powered by a highly-efficient 1.5-litre inline three-cylinder hybrid powertrain delivering both responsive performance and outstanding fuel economy. It features a compact and lightweight transaxle with enhanced motor output and a high-output nickel-metal hydride battery. This powertrain is used for both front-drive and all-wheel drive variants.

Lexus will confirm the local LBX lineup and pricing early next year.
