Royal Melbourne Golf Club
The Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational took place under perfect conditions at the number one course in the country, the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. Lexus Encore Members were invited to experience a day on the greens, with events on offer for all skill levels. The day opened with a traditional 18-hole round for our competitors, and for those seeking an introduction to the game of golf, enjoyed a relaxed lesson hosted by Director of Golf, David Gillard. The course was looking beautiful and low scores would be the order of the day, with some fantastic prizes on offer.
The winners separated themselves from the field by over a shot and a half after shooting the lowest score of the day - but more on their round later!
The third placed team of Charles Chen, Swee Chow, Russell Howard & Peter Myors were six under par with three holes to go, and any result was still possible. Unfortunately, they had a bogey and no birdies to finish their round and would have to settle for third place with nett 56.5.
The runners up has a mixed start to their round with a birdie, two pars and a bogey. That was to be the last of the bogeys, and they would go on to record eight more birdies to finish with nett 55.12. Well played Daniel O'Connell, Jacqueline Lamoureux, Jeremy Raniti & John Wildes.
The winners had an extrordinary round and were in fact one over par after five holes. They would then go on to record thirteen birdies in their next fourteen holes – an incredible result! The only hole they didn't birdie was in fact a bogey, but they had done enough to take out the win with nett 53.37. Congratulations James Wu (5), Lance Keillor (19), Benjamin Ng (27) & David Ginsberg (18).
Fifteen guests also took part in the beginner lessons - congratulations to the following winners:
