SAFETY
Step inside the IS 250C and you'll be surrounded by safety. Six SRS airbags
are designed to deploy intelligently, even protecting you when the hardtop roof is
down.
Six SRS airbags designed for open and closed roof
conditions
Specially developed for the IS 250C, the head and torso side SRS
airbags reduce the chance of head injury whether the hardtop roof
is up or down. These airbags have more than twice the impact
alleviation area of a conventional side airbag. Further
protection is provided with dual SRS airbags in the front, as
well as knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, which
help reduce the chance of lower limb injury in the event of a
collision.
Advanced safety systems management
The IS 250C includes
Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM),
a breakthrough system which can anticipate and help prevent
instability and loss of traction, especially on slippery corners.
VDIM integrates the comprehensive package of safety technologies in
the IS 250C, which includes the Anti-lock Braking System, Brake
Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution,
Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control.
Pre-collision safety
The Lexus Pre-Collision safety System (PCS)1 in the IS
250C Sports and Sports Luxury models helps you avoid accidents and
can reduce injury and damage where an impact is unavoidable. The
PCS is assisted by a radar sensor embedded in the front grille,
which monitors the distance of the vehicle from objects ahead. If
the PCS determines a collision is likely, it displays a visual
warning and sounds an alarm. It then pre-emptively retracts the
driver and front passenger seatbelts, while arming Brake Assist to
help reduce speed. If the driver does not respond and a
collision is unavoidable, the system automatically applies
Pre-Collision Braking.
Active Cruise Control
In addition to conventional cruise control, the IS 250C Sports and
Sports Luxury models feature a vehicle-to-vehicle distance
technology known as
Active Cruise Control (ACC)
2. Pre-set your
preferred cruising speed using touch controls on the steering
wheel. This speed will be maintained until the radar detects
another vehicle in your path. ACC will then reduce your speed
accordingly, and will even apply the brakes if necessary. Your
nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be
maintained.
